This morning (Easter morning) we woke up to the Bunny having stopped my our house! He left 4 eggs for Eli to find and a basket FULL of goodies!! He got a train set of Little People, 2 Little People Easter people, 2 Little People cars, 1 Little People Easter train, a watering can for the bath tub, a bath book, a new bubble machine, a bubble wand set, a book and some Gerber Yogurt Melts!! It was packed! But he was so excited. At church Eli went up to hear Ms Ginger's childrens moment. Eli loved the Easter butterflies that Ms Christie had put all over the church too! After a great service of praise music and saying Happy Easter to everyone, we headed back home for a little while before we went to G-Ma's and Grandpa's for brunch. We had brunch with G-Ma, Grandpa, Auntie Del, Auntie Bethy, Uncle Bob, Kevin and GG-Ma! Eli looked for some eggs (he managed to pick up 2!), opened 2 more baskets full of goodies and recieved a Pillow Pet that is a purple bunny! We then traveled over to Nanny and Pop's house for Easter dinner. We had dinner with Nanny, Pops, Auntie Vicky and Gram. Eli got some chocolate bunnies and 4 cars that go, go, go! We came home after that and Eli hunted for some eggs and played with his new toys. Over all it was a busy day, but we have been blessed!! Thank you Jesus for living and dying for us!! We love you and praise you!
We celebrate all weekend long! :o) We started Friday afternoon with a visit from Grandpa Corbyons. The Bunny left a big ol' stuffed dog and a gift card for shoes at his house for Eli! :o) Saturday morning we went to not 1 but 2 egg hunts! One in Pembroke Pines and one in Cooper City. Eli wanted to run and grab all the "ba's" (eggs that he calls balls) before everyone else got them but after they said go, Eli just wanted to sit among the "ba's" and laugh. It was pretty cute!! <3 <3 We then went down to see GG in the rehab center. Eli gave her a pair of bunny ears to wear and she wore them for hours!! GG looks so good after everything that has gone on these past few weeks. :0)

My heart is torn. This year Rick, Eli, our family and friends will March for Babies on April 30th. I will not be there. Not because my heart isn't there!! No, but because I will be Famaning. What is the Famine? Funny you should ask! The 30 Hour Famine is something that our youth have done for the last 5 years and I have done for 14 of the last 15 years! We all get together to not eat for 30 hours. Why? Again, good question! :o) We don't eat for 30 hours to raise awareness and money for children who won't eat for days/weeks/months. It is a great way to build compassion for others and "treat others as we treat ourselves" as God has told us to do. Rich Sterns book. The Hole In Our Gospel, is fantastic and I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in finding out a little more about World Vision (the outreach that sponsors 30 Hour Famine). So my heart is torn... But while Eli and Rick are Marching for awareness of preemies, the Youth and I will be Famining for all the babies who go to sleep hungry at night! So my heart is torn, but it's an awesome tear!!
On Saturday we went to an event called Flips for Babies that benefited March of Dimes. It was so awesome! It was at The Little Gym of Pembroke Pines and Eli had such a good time! The event was put on my Janel, one of my fellow MoD Family Team Council members. :o) She raised over $1200!! YEAH!!! This little girl is a special one!! Her name is Susan. She was a preemie about 7 years ago. When we were in the NICU we got a little Tigger sitting in Eli's incubator when we got there one night. It was from Susan. She goes every year to the NICU on her birthday and leaves a little stuffed animal with each baby. It is so awesome! We are so blessed that now we get to know her and hopefully when Eli gets older, he will take Susan's que...
Last night Eli's Little Giants had a fundraiser at Chick-Fil-A in Davie! It was FANTASTIC!! We are still waiting on all the figures, but we had between 125-150 people and over 50 orders!! :o) It was so great that everyone came out to help us save the babies!! <3 <3 We are so blessed to have friends and family like you all!!!! LOVE YOU ALL!! (I only had the camera out for the last little bit, but we know who you are and that you were there!) :o)
Today as Eli and I walked up to a new park (very cute and fun, by the way!) we saw a tree. This tree was decorated for Easter... Bunnies, eggs, streamers... I thought it was cute. Then I got close enough to see that it was a tree planted in memory of a little girl named Amanda. She was only 9 years old when she passed away. I looked at Eli as he looked at the bunny and laughed and it was just another reminder... Another reminder of how close we were to planting a tree... Another reminder of how blessed we are everyday we get to see and hear and touch and talk to Eli. I said a little prayer for Amanda's parents as we walked away from the Easter tree. Thank you Jesus for blessing us everyday! Please help us to see all the blessings in our lives, even the seemingly everyday moments that we take for granted!
Here are a few of the reasons we March for Babies...
This afternoon, after our church Egg-Stravaganza (more on that and pics later) our youth went to see Soul Surfer. Can I tell you how AWESOME it was? I don't think I can... It was all about trusting God, but it wasn't about pushing Christianity down a person's throat. It was all about real life, but also believing that God has a plan for everyone. It was so great! I loved it! The youth loved it! I think that everyone should take their families to see this movie. Let's support some of the good movies out there so that people will make more of them!! http://www.soulsurferthemovie.com/ Another really awesome part?? While all the youth are settling in for the movie one of our SENIOR CITIZENS walks in to watch the movie too!! It is a movie for all ages!! :0)
Well, the rest of the weekend was less eventful than the past week. I think everyone in the family is greatful for that. :o) We had check out at the Dade County Fair this past Thursday. It was fun to see many of the cousins! Eli and Joshua had a good time having snack with G-Ma. Then last night (Friday night) we went to a fundraiser called Stary Night for Youth For Christ down in Miami. It was a great event! Again we saw many cousins and had a good time. GG (Gram) even won a door prize from her hospital room! lol. We are not quite sure how her name got into the drawing... (Mom....) :o) Today (Saturday) we went to Sawgrass Mall and spent the afternoon. Then we came home and hung out for awhile. I am incharge of the March For Babies Ambassador Signs this year and had to submit them today! (Can I tell you how AWESOME it was to see all the babies who weighed so little at birth grow into these beautiful children?!?!?!) Then we went to Flanigans for dinner, out to the Everglades to see the boats/gators/peacocks, Wal-Mart and YogurtLand! It was a busy day but very fun! I feel so blessed to have my little family!! <3
So this has been an interesting couple of weeks... On March 30 Dad (aka Grandpa) left for Massachusets on his yearly treck up to see Aunt Brenda, Sam and Brini. That night after he left, Gram (aka GG) was taken to the hospital in Orlando due to a colapsed lung. Mom (aka G-Ma) and Aunt Judi left the next morning to be in Orlando with GG. That Friday they were all still in Orlando and I (Kate) had to leave for the weekend with the Confirmation class for a retreat! On Friday afternoon Rick called and said that BOTH of the sisters (Auntie Del and Auntie Bethy) cars were broke down! UGH! It was raining on us that weekend!!! That Saturday GG was transported to Baptist Hospital in Miami to be with her DR's. On Wednesday she had surgery for her lung. Wednesday night was hard. They were able to extubate her but had to put her back on the vent because she was laboring to breath. It was a long hard night Wednesday night... But God blessed our family with yet ANOTHER miracle!! On Thursday GG was sitting up, breathing with a Bi-Pap machine and writing notes to us! She was smiling and giving thumbs ups to us! WAA-HOO!!!! By Thursday night she was eating dinner!! What a difference in 24 hours!! Today (Friday) she had a hicup, but they think they were able to fix things. She ended up with an air bubble (like Eli had!) in her chest because of her chest tube. But things are better now and she is resting. Thanks to all who were and are praying for GG! God is so good!!!!!
